For me, karaoke is
not about sounding like Josh Groban or Whitney Houston. Personally, I
do a pretty lousy imitation of Whitney. Ask me some time. You'll see.
Karaoke
is about having fun. Years ago, before Al Gore invented the internet,
and before digital cable, iPods, and the electric backscratcher, and
long before we needed VCRs to free us from the drudgery of having to
watch reruns of "Friends", long before all that... people needed to
make their own entertainment.
When I was a kid, that
entertainment usually revolved around poking fun at anybody named John
the Revelator. But years before that, people used to get together to
sing. Just for the fun of it. In some strange social twist, karaoke was
invented by the Japanese to find that link to our past.

MY PERSONAL LIFE
I live harmoniously with my darling wife, the Gypsy Songstress, in the Milwaukee area. Music is a big part of both of our lives. She sings, plays guitar and piano. It is hard to keep us from singing show tunes, folk songs, and old standards.
We both entertain and are available for hire, either solo or together.
The fabulous choir is what brought me to UUCW church. I sing tenor. I sang bass in high school, but then my voice changed.
In my "real" job, I do applied research regarding the applications of color
measurement devices in the print industry. My thirteenth patent has issued. In February 2010, I had the thrill to be asked to speak in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
For more information about my real career, have a look at my LinkedIn profile. I would be more than happy to help out with any of your color science karaoke questions.
Ever had pineapple upside-down cornbread? Ever had a Greek salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, avocados, kalamatas olives and feta cheese? Ever had spaghetti sauce that has been gently simmered for five hours? If not, come on over for supper! Bring a bottle of merlot, and come prepared to sing!! Or if you prefer, send me an email and I will send you my recipe.
